“I’ve never won anything, so winning this scholarship means everything.” Alaina has fought through many obstacles a young mother, working full time at Blessing Hospital, and returning to school after 15 years. After an accident left her brother hospitalized, she became interested in the nursing field. “Even if its just having someone to talk to, that’s what the nurses did for me.” Alaina was awarded the Illinois Community College System Foundation Health Care Scholarship. This scholarship made it possible for her to pay for her education after cutting her hours down to just Fridays in order to go to school full time. She is thankful for the scholarship opportunity and is motivated to succeed for the people who awarded it to her.
