What is Caring Campus?

Caring Campus creates a supportive and inclusive environment for students, faculty, and staff.  It emphasizes building relationships, fostering empathy, and creating a sense of belonging.

Why do we do it?

Caring Campus improves student success and campus morale by ensuring students feel valued and supported. JWCC has always been a caring campus. However, we are always working to improve the intentionality and consistency in the ways we serve students.

Caring Behaviors

  • Reaching Out Upon Enrollment
Welcome new students and offer support.
  • First Week Greetings
Greet students during their first week to make them feel welcome.
  • First Two-Week Check-Ins
Check in with students to offer assistance within the first two weeks.
  • Name Tags
Wearing name tags creates a more personal and welcoming environment.
  • 10-Foot Rule
Acknowledge and greet anyone within 10 feet to foster inclusivity.
  • Warm Referrals
Refer students to services in a supportive manner.
  • Cross-Department Awareness
Have an awareness of services across departments to provide comprehensive support.

By implementing these behaviors, we create a campus where all feels supported and empowered to succeed.
