Qualifications:
A candidate must:
∙ Be at least 18 years of age
∙ Possess emotional maturity when working with children.
∙ Demonstrate respect for children and adults.
∙ Be willing to cooperate with the purpose and services of the program.
∙ Be flexible, understanding, and patient.
∙ Be physically fit both mind and body so as not to interfere with the childcare responsibilities.
∙ Maintain good personal hygiene
∙ Pass a background check
Responsibilities:
Important and essential duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
∙ Attentiveness, availability, and responsiveness to the children
∙ Sensitivity to the children’s socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, and religious backgrounds, and individual needs and capabilities.
∙ Use positive discipline and guidance techniques.
∙ Provide an environment in which children feel comfortable, relaxed, happy, and involved in play, recreation, and other activities.
∙ Cooperate with the teacher in helping reach classroom and individual goals.
∙ Assure that the classroom remains a safe environment.
∙ Maintain client confidentiality at all times.
∙ Adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
∙ Attend and participate in staff meetings and center-related activities; attend workshops, conferences, and classes to increase professional knowledge; volunteer for center activities and serve on committees as needed.
∙ Attain at least 20 hours of training per year.
∙ Establish, maintain, and foster positive relationships with fellow staff.
∙ Perform related duties and responsibilities as required by the program.
