Must have a current Illinois License as a Registered Nurse. Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred.

Job Duties
All nursing staff in the Department is required to develop a fully cross trained skill set so that any nursing function may be staffed with any licensed nurse despite Division and Section assignment. This allows the Department to function during nursing shortages, high demand time periods and emergency situations
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism
- Complies with all federal, state and local laws related to the Public Health Nurse position including HIPAA and mandated reporting
- Maintains working knowledge of and compliance with all department policies and procedures
- Attends all Adams County Health Department (ACHD) mandatory in-services and trainings
Infectious Disease Duties:
- Conducts epidemiological investigations on cases and suspected cases of communicable diseases
- Educates the public and staff personnel of the community’s communicable disease prevention needs
- Investigates communicable disease outbreaks
- Conducts and administers HIV testing and education
- Conducts Tuberculosis control operations
- Performs other Public Health Nurse duties as assigned
Laboratory Duties:
- Able to review laboratory test orders and enter the correct tests into electronic system
- Able to communicate with patients the type of laboratory tests to be performed
- Safely and competently draws blood through both venipuncture and capillary methods
- Able to follow up with provider offices regarding laboratory test results
- Other duties as assigned
