JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Inventory Control Specialist
Department: Supply Chain
Reports To: Supply Chain Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
JOB SUMMARY:
Performs cycle counts of inventory, controls inventory, organizes raw materials using FIFO rotation, receives raw materials and investigates/corrects inventory discrepancy issues. Works closely with the Supply Chain Manager, Warehouse Lead and Sr. Planning Manager for Quincy and Kentland, to ensure materials are available for production.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 2-3 years previous experience is a plus
- Ability to work a flexible schedule as needed
- Exceptional interpersonal skills are required
- Computer experience is required – strong Excel knowledge
- Ability to walk/climb to count inventories
- Ability to read and interpret documents
- Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
- Basic math skills are required
- Forklift experience and certification a plus. We will train.
- Valid State Issued Driver’s License is required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:
- Expedite timely receipt of materials in order to prevent production down time and ensure right-sized inventories. Understand vendor lead times of raw materials.
- Put away raw materials, with the utilization of a forklift, heavy lifting regularly in a timely manner so they are available for production.
- Plan and organize the raw materials assisting in the FIFO process.
- Maintain communication with scheduling and production as to the status of materials and how they relate to the production schedule.
- Verify that raw materials on the production schedule are available before production, and put away in the correct location.
- Monitor shipments to ensure that raw materials come in on time and help resolve problems related to undelivered goods.
- Prepare sample packages and ship in JDE correctly and in a timely manner.
- Investigate inventory inaccuracies to root cause prior to correction in database.
- Follows standard operating procedures including quality checks and procedures for all operations.
- Maintain and review computerized records of items purchased, costs, deliveries, product performance and inventories.
- Learn some scheduling and purchasing of raw materials to act as back-up as needed.
- Cross train on the dock as to a backup for the Warehouse Lead.
- Any other duties as assigned by manager.

GMP & PPE REQUIRED:
- Anyone on the production floor must follow the GMP rules in their employee handbook this includes the required hairnets, beard nets and earplugs for safety. All employees are required to wear safety glasses when on the plant floor. It is also required that all personnel wear required PPE while changing propane tanks on the forklifts.

- The Supply Chain Manager will serve as replacement coverage in the event of absence or qualified appointee determined by the Plant Manager.
