Three area high school seniors recently earned John Wood Community College Presidential Scholarships. Twenty-one students competed for the two-year, full-tuition scholarships to JWCC.
Students each submitted an application, résumé and letter, and winners were selected based on high school leadership activities, grade point average and performance during an on-campus interview conducted by JWCC faculty, staff and students.
Presidential Scholarship recipients will be required to take part in leadership and service activities as they complete requirements for associate degrees during the 2020-21 and 2021-22 academic years at JWCC.
Winners of the seventh annual JWCC Presidential Scholarship Competition were Noah Gay, Quinn Phillips and Avery Waner.
Noah Gay is a student at Pittsfield High School and the son of David and Amy Gay of New Canton.
Quinn Phillips is a student at Pittsfield High School and the daughter of Josh and Kindra Phillips of Chambersburg.
Avery Waner is a student at Southeastern High School and the daughter of Lucas and Kelly Waner of Bowen.
