JWCC Business & Industry Training Offering Professional Development Classes

John Wood Community College Business and Industry Training is offering two professional development classes – Digital Marketing for Local Business and Video Basics for Business. Both classes are open to the public and no application is necessary. Individuals are required to make a reservation to attend. The classes will take place at JWCC’s Workforce Development Center, 4220 Kochs Lane, Quincy.

Many small businesses struggle to stay in front of potential customers and rise above the noise of competing products and services. The Digital Marketing for Local Business workshop will show participants how to get Google to showcase their local business, send customers ready to buy, and improve referrals. Students will learn about the free or low-cost tools and services Google offers for local businesses and will see real-world examples of what is working today. Participants will leave with a one-page checklist to jumpstart their Google marketing efforts. Digital Marketing for Local Business will be held Tuesday, March 22, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $65 per person.

Video Basics for Business is designed to be a quick, basic intro to creating video for social media or a business website. If individuals would like to use more video on their website or social media but aren’t sure where to start, this workshop is for them. Participants will learn the importance of video for marketing, how to use a smartphone for video, affordable apps & accessories to improve videos, simple filming techniques, composition & lighting, tips for recording great audio, livestreaming options, basic editing using low-cost software, sharing and hosting options and services, and ideas and examples to get started. Video Basics for Business will be held Tuesday, March 29, from 9 a.m. to noon. The cost is $75 per person.

Andrew Skattebo with BrickStreet Data Systems will present both classes. For more information on these classes or to register, contact the Workforce Development Center at 217-641-4971, or visit https://www.jwcc.edu/programs/workforce/.
