Students to Engage in Hands-On STEM Activities and Explore STEM Careers

QUINCY, IL – John Wood Community College will host its 8th Grade STEM Expo on Friday, March 28, at the Workforce Development Center, offering students an interactive experience with hands-on activities focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

The event will feature two sessions: a morning session from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m., and an afternoon session from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Middle school students from the region will have the opportunity to build, code, explore new technologies, and learn about high-demand STEM careers.

The Expo is designed to spark curiosity and support career exploration in STEM fields through engaging, project-based learning. Students will rotate through a variety of stations highlighting real-world applications of science and technology, providing exposure to tools and skills used in today’s evolving industries.

Participation is free, but space is limited. Schools and individuals were encouraged to register students by Saturday, March 9, to reserve a spot. For more information, contact Kayla Wentz at 217.641.4346 or kwentz@jwcc.edu.
