JWCC Trustees Hear Reports on Graduation and Career Launch Signing Day

John Wood Community College Board of Trustees heard a report from JWCC President Bryan Renfro on the College’s Forty-Eighth annual graduation ceremony and Career Launch Signing Day during its regular meeting on Wednesday, May 17, 2023.

Renfro stated, “During the 2022-2023 academic year, JWCC proudly granted 349 associate degrees, 174 certificates, and 1 College for Life certificate to students pursuing their hopes and dreams. It’s inspiring to see so many hardworking students balancing their studies with full-time or part-time jobs to support themselves and their families. We are proud of them!

We are thrilled to announce that 235 students will participate in our commencement ceremony on May 19. This marks the largest number of graduates we’ve had at JWCC to walk across the stage.”

Renfro also shared, “We are equally excited about our partnership with the Great River Economic Development Foundation (GREDF) and the Quincy Area Vocational Technical Center (QAVTC) for Career & Technical Launch Signing Day. The event featured over 13 students and 8 business partners. Our ultimate goal is to grow the region’s workforce and be a national leader in helping our students achieve a sustainable family income. We are grateful for our Board of Trustees, faculty, and staff, who are committed to supporting our students every step of the way. Having great partners in this journey, like GREDF and the QAVTC, makes it possible.”
