The holiday season is taking flight at John Wood Community College. Families in the Quincy area are invited to a festive event featuring Santa Claus arriving via helicopter. The free event will take place Saturday, December 14, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at JWCC’s Student Activity Center at 1301 South 48th Street in Quincy.
The magic begins with Santa’s grand arrival via helicopter at 11 a.m. on the JWCC soccer field (near the northwest entrance to the college). Families can watch Santa touch down and make his way to the Student Activity Center and gym. To see the helicopter landing, park in the lot just west of the Student Activity Center, near the ATM. Please note that if the helicopter is called into service, Santa will arrive separately and greet children inside the Student Activity Center.
After Santa’s arrival, families should enter the main entrance of the Student Activity Center (gym) to access the aerobics room, where Santa will greet children. Families are welcome to take their own photos for free.
This event is held in conjunction with the Women’s and Men’s Basketball games. The Women’s game begins at 1 p.m. and the Men’s game at 3 p.m. There is a charge for entry to the games.
